Many of the jw broadcasts are removed

I would like to share this interesting post by Christine Anderson.

This is a really insightful response i got when i was doing a little mini-poll on whether or not it's worth pointing out to the Witnesses, that so many of the jw broadcasts were removed.  I think a brilliant point is made here, about how we can combine this, and of course some other points, with the Org's claim to transparency.

"When I spoke with elders, one of the things they emphasized was how transparent the Governing Body is. I was told constantly that changes could be looked up, that nothing was hidden, and that the organization was open about its history and adjustments. Until I tried looking 😆.

Before the app, we had the bound volumes of Watchtowers and Awakes, and I remember being told to get rid of them.  just don’t use them, but essentially to destroy them, throw them away, or burn them. We even burned piles of old literature at Kingdom Halls. We were told not to sell them.

Then the CD-ROM library came out, and it had a huge archive of publications, including Watchtowers and Awakes, and even some older material going back into the late 1800s through reprint collections, so it felt pretty transparent.
Then the app came out, and it didn't realize how much went missing. I was honestly shocked when I tried to do research on older stuff.

One video I couldn’t believe was removed, because it was such a big deal at the time, was the convention video “Loyally Uphold Jehovah’s Judgments—Shun Unrepentant Wrongdoers.” It was very strong and memorable, and many of us watched it, talked about it, and discussed it at the convention. I couldn’t believe it was gone.

Then I started noticing that much of Tony Morris’ content had been removed from JW Library or replaced, and many Witnesses still don’t even know he was removed from the Governing Body. A lot of Witnesses around my age are also unaware that Raymond Franz was a former Governing Body ( including me ) member who became an apostate. That part of history just isn’t really emphasized in newer teaching.
Witnesses are taught to view the organization as exceptionally transparent, while not realizing how older publications, videos, and historical details can become harder to find, are no longer discussed.  And I think a big part of it is that older generations don’t always pass those details down to newer members or people who weren’t around for it.

Most Witnesses are told to prioritize keeping up with current meetings, broadcasts, and publications, so there’s rarely time to dig into what’s been removed or changed over time.

I don’t think discovering these things automatically makes someone leave the organization. But I do think it can create a small crack in the certainty that everything is exactly as transparent as they were led to believe."
